The Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference (HCBC) has been supporting the Sztojka Sándor Greek Catholic Lyceum in Karácsfalva (Karačín) for years. The institution plays a key role in the education and upbringing of the Hungarians living in Transcarpathia (Ukraine). The school was already in a difficult situation before the outbreak of the war, with many of its students travelling great distances and many unable to get to school on their own due to the lack of public transport.
The institution currently transport 68 of its students to and from school every day. These journey are organized from three main directions.

The lyceum used to hire three buses, each with 20-25 seats, but this was a significant financial burden for the institution. In order to reduce costs, the Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference (HCBC) donated a minibus to the school in 2019. However, after the outbreak of the war, the school found itself in even more difficult economic and social circumstances, and the HCBC donated a second minibus for the institution, which can transport 21 people.
The minibus, which was purchased for HUF 21 million , was delivered to the lyceum today. The handover ceremony was attended by Ferenc Demkó, vicar for the Hungarian-speaking faithful of the Greek Catholic Diocese of Munkács (Mukachevo), Father Jenő Tóth, the head of the Sztojka Sándor Greek Catholic Lyceum, as well as students and staff of the institution.
